Tradition. Camaraderie. Competition. Livestock. Food. Carnival Rides. Exhibits. Youth. These are all words that describe a piece of Americana that has a rich history stretching back for centuries – our State Fairs!

The Florida State Fair, founded 114 years ago in 1904, is setting up for another exhilarating year, so make plans to join in the fun at the Florida State Fairgrounds in Tampa, FL February 8-19, 2018!

Did You Know? The Florida State Fair was originally housed at the Tampa Hotel, now known as The University of Tampa!

In 2018, the Florida State Fair is unveiling 13 new attractions, which include entertainment especially for children and teens, as well as extreme sports to engage visitors of all ages! Click here to start planning your day at the fair.

Family Entertainment
Moms and dads will be excited to see all the kid-friendly entertainment, including meet and greets with Paw Patrol, Rusty Rivets, and Umizumi that your littlest ones are sure to love! Little Farm Hands, presented by Mosaic, offer children age 3-10 the change to become farm hands in this free, hands-on exhibit showcasing the agricultural process, beginning at the farm and ending at the market.

Meanwhile, ‘tweens and teens will be itching to see Florida State Fair Dance Championships, featuring stars of Dance Moms, and Teen Stars Live. But the kid-friendly fun doesn’t stop there! You’ll also enjoy Professor Smart, K9s in Flight, Sea Lion Splash, Welde’s Big Bear Show, Camel Rides, and Extreme Illusions & Escapes.

Don’t forget that Cracker Country is also a Florida State Fair tradition, and guests are welcome to visit and experience a slice of rural Florida history through music, crafts, exploration of the 13 original structures, demonstrations, and interaction with knowledgeable interpreters. Entrance to Cracker Country is included with your Florida State Fair admission.

Extreme Fun
This year the fair introduces its new Extreme Sports Series showcasing death-defying acts from across the country to entertain fair-goers each day. Get your adrenaline pumping with performances that include BMX/FMX Freestyle Madness, The Ninja Experience, Mini Monster Trucks, US Lawn Mower Association Race, and well as everyone’s favorite … the Demolition Derby!

Of course, the 15 acres the fair covers also houses the largest midway in North America and more than 110 different rides, offering a more personal level of high-flying excitement!

Special Events
Don’t miss a chance to see just how fashionable trash can be during the Trashy Flashy Fashion Show, and kids can flex their mental muscle during the Florida State Fair State Vex Robotics Championship, a STEM-based tournament.

For music lovers, this year’s fair features musical acts that include Country Gold Tour, Kazual, Screaming Orphans, Fuel on Fire, Dennis Lee, Vocal Trash and local Tampa bands including Kenzie Wheeler, Reverend Barry & the Funk, Alex Lopez, Nathan Hager, Taylor Reed, and many more.

Of course, a fair just isn’t a fair without the ever-enticing and memorable fair foods, which in 2018 include a Surf N Turf Sundae, Southern Catfish Sundae, and Barbeque Pulled Pork Ribbon Fries.

There is something for all ages to enjoy every day at the Florida State Fair! Tickets can be purchased at any participating Publix Supermarkets in the Tampa Bay area or online here. By the way … the fair also offers special Student Days when kids can take advantage of free admission with a student ticket distributed in their schools; participating counties include Hillsborough, Hardee, Citrus, Highland, Sarasota, Manatee, Polk, and Pinellas Counties.
