If you have lived in Tampa Bay for any of the past 100 years you are probably familiar with the Gasparilla Pirate Festival. This special time of year celebrates the legend of José Gaspar and his invasion into Tampa Bay.

We are excited to launch our first video of many from our new video series for The Mommy Spot Tampa Bay. Check out some fun ways to get the kids excited for our favorite time of year with a fun Gasparilla recipe and craft!

This year the Gasparilla Children’s Parade falls on Saturday, January 23, 2016. It is an alcohol-free event celebrating the return of the Gasparilla Season to Tampa Bay. The parade begins at 3:30pm, but you can arrive early to catch the preschool stroll at 1:30pm. Finish off the evening with a “Piratechnic” Extravaganza presented by McDonald’s at 7pm.

Click here for information, maps and schedules for the event.

The main Gasparilla festivities will take place on the weekend of January 29th and 30th. Friday night there will be a pre-invasion celebration in Curtis Hixon Park and the main invasion and parade will be on Saturday, January 30th! Find out more about these celebrations by clicking here.

Happy Gasparilla Everyone!

MommySpot
The Mommy Spot is a website that encompasses all that is motherhood. From a woman expecting, to the beautiful, busy, laundry filled life that consumes us all after children. In mom language, this site is a strategically organized diaper bag on an otherwise chaotic day; A spotless nook of solace surrounded by complete disarray. The intent was to eliminate mindless hours of internet searching by creating a sole location for “everything”.
