Mom in Tampa Bay-1

One of the best compliments you can pay me is to ask what to do or where to go on your day off or on a vacation in Tampa. I am so proud of my hometown, and I love when it shows. There are so many hidden treasures that I have yet to discover, and I have made it my personal mission to seek out as much as I can, every chance I get!

Tampa Bay is the physical foundation of our family. My husband, Jimmy, our 3-year-old son, Benji, and myself were all born at the same hospital – St. Joseph’s Women’s. Next February we plan on welcoming our little girl there, too!

Our first meeting, our first date, his proposal, and our wedding all took place in this incredible city. So, I think it is safe to say that I love Tampa Bay!

I recently made a mini city guide for an out-of-towner, and I would love to share it with my fellow moms.

Parks:

Lettuce Lake Park My husband and I ventured here often, pre-baby, for fun canoe trips and bike riding. The playground and expansive fields are so beautiful, and they allow for fun birthday parties and great family photos!

Lake Park Entry costs $2, but it is well worth it! I cannot express how much I love this playground. I have seen it so packed, but still with plenty left for the kiddos to do. I want to go back soon and check out the radio controlled car track!

Food:

Oxford Exchange Whenever anyone comes in from out of town, this is one of our first stops. I had the privilege of taking a tour of the entire building, and learning about the history was such a treat. The coffee is on point, and the brunch is beyond delicious! (My reccommendation: Super Simple Sandwich)

Vizcaya Tampa’s tapas gem. Date night, girls night, and family dinner (yes, small children welcome!), this place caters to it all! (You can’t leave without trying the sangria and the dates!)

Farmers Markets:

One of our favorite things to do as a family is to go to all of the different farmers markets our city has to offer. Carrollwood, St. Pete, Seminole Heights, South Tampa, we have been to all of them! You will find some of the same vendors at each location, and you will always leave satisfied! Some of our favorites are:

The Urban Canning Co. Best homemade jams!
La Petite France Nutella and banana crepes!
Tree Dog Roots Get the Loaded Smash Up!

This past weekend I attended a charity event, Tampa Pig Jig, at Curtis Hixon Park, and my close girlfriend turned to me and said, “Look at this place right now.” It was a gorgeous night and an added reminder that this city is so great.
